    DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1: Cusco – Cusipata – Llacto – Rainbow Mountain, Vinicunca – Cusco.

We will pick you up from your hotel at 4:00 a.m. in our private transportation and drive for 2 hours to the South Valley of Cusco. You will have the opportunity to rest in our transportation and sleep during the trip. We will stop for breakfast in the town of Cusipata. After breakfast, we will continue our journey until we reach the starting point of the trek, the community of Llacto, located at an altitude of (4,630 m / 15,190 ft). During the trip, we will observe Andean villages, agricultural terraces from the Inca period, fertile farming valleys and beautiful mountains.

Upon arrival at the bus parking lot in the community of Llacto, our guide will brief us about the hike, and we will start our trek to Rainbow Mountain. As we ascend, you will enjoy the scenery, especially the view of the impressive Ausangate (6,372 m / 20,905 ft). Your guide will explain why this mountain is a living deity for the Andean people who work the land with their hands. You will also be amazed to see the traditional clothing that they wear and that they make themselves, thanks to the textile talents they have inherited from their ancestors.

After an hour and a half to two hours of hiking uphill, we will arrive at the incredible Rainbow Mountain, located at (5,100 m / 16,732 ft). Upon reaching the summit, you will have time to admire the astonishing beauty of this impressive natural formation and feel the thrill of witnessing a unique natural site. You will take advantage of this opportunity to take some incredible photos. We will spend about 30 minutes at the summit, depending on how fast you hiked and the weather conditions.

After free time at the top of Rainbow Mountain, we will hike back down for about an hour to the point where we started the hike (parking lot). Then, we will board our transportation to the restaurant in the town of Cusipata to enjoy our lunch. After lunch, we will board the private transportation to return to Cusco city.

How many days of acclimatization do I need before starting the trek?

We recommend that you arrive in Cusco city at least 2 days before the Rainbow Mountain tour to adapt to the altitude and avoid possible altitude sickness. For this purpose, we offer tours around the city of Cusco, such as CITY TOUR, SACRED VALLEY, MARAS MORAY, MARAS SALT MINES, and WALKING TOUR, which will help you acclimatize to the altitude.

Season: Any month of the year (rainy season from December to March).

    Informative meeting or briefing:

Briefing meetings are held one night before the start of the trek. You will receive information about the Rainbow Mountain hike. This meeting lasts approximately 30 to 45 minutes. In case you are unable to attend, you need to let us know by mail to arrange your meeting with your guide on another date or time.

NOTE: You will also need a backpack to carry your personal items such as sunscreen, water, rain gear, sunglasses, etc.

    Strikes/Demonstrations:

Unfortunately, strikes are frequent in Peru and can disrupt our tours. Roads are often blocked, and trains are stopped. We will ensure that your trek continues as planned, even if that means leaving the night before the start date. In such circumstances, tours may need to be cancelled, but our operations department will coordinate with you in this situation. Your safety is always our primary concern.

    Lost and Found:

Each client is responsible for their items throughout the tour. Be careful where you leave your belongings and remember to pick up all items from our vehicles, stores, restaurants, etc. Other hikers or teams may pick them up without knowing the owner.
